Judo
Judo was introduced into Australia in 1928 and since then its popularity has rapidly grown. Judo is translated as the "gentle way" and it teaches the efficient use of balance, leverage, and movement. Technique and timing are the necessary components of success in Judo and the use of brute strength is not required. Judo teaches you to give way, rather than use force in order to overcome a stronger opponent.
Judo uniquely teaches techniques of falling safely and this practice can be used to prevent injury in other sports such as Rugby Union, Rugby League, AFL, Soccer, Netball and Basketball. Judo is also fun and the friendly atmosphere at the Sandgate PCYC will give you the chance to meet others in the community.
